How to write Urdu text or poetry on a photo online

Write Urdu on a photo in four steps

The quickest workflow is to finish the words first, choose the output size, add the image, then make the text readable at the size people will actually see.

  1. Enter the Urdu text. Type Urdu directly, paste existing Urdu, or type Roman Urdu and convert it to Urdu script. Transliteration changes sounds into Urdu script; it does not translate English meaning.
  2. Choose the card size. Pick a square post, landscape card, wide social image or 1080 × 1920 story/status layout before fine-tuning the design.
  3. Add the photo or background. Choose a local JPG, PNG or WebP image, then adjust its crop/position and overlay strength so the Urdu remains legible.
  4. Set the Urdu font and export. Compare Nastaliq and Naskh-style choices, adjust text position or size, then download the PNG at the selected output dimensions.

Start with the message, not the decoration

A short, reviewed Urdu line is easier to place clearly than a dense paragraph. If you are converting Roman Urdu, check names and ambiguous spellings before you spend time styling the image.

Font choice affects spacing as well as appearance. Always judge the final card at its real viewing size.

Nastaliq for a traditional Urdu look

Nastaliq is a natural choice for poetry, quotes and greetings, but its flowing shapes need generous vertical space. Long lines may need a smaller size or wider text box.

Naskh for compact readability

Naskh uses a more regular baseline and can be easier to fit into smaller cards, mixed Urdu-English designs or layouts where predictable wrapping matters.

Make the Urdu image readable on a phone

Most social images are eventually seen on a small screen, so a design that only looks good while zoomed in can still fail after sharing.

  1. Prefer one short message over several small paragraphs.
  2. Check the preview after selecting the final square, portrait or story/status ratio.
  3. Use enough contrast between the Urdu text and the photo. Add an overlay when a busy background competes with the writing.
  4. Keep important text away from the extreme top and bottom of a story/status image where app interface controls may appear.
  5. Open the downloaded image on your phone before publishing an important announcement.

What happens to the photo you choose?

Card Studio processes the background image in your browser for the design workflow. The selected local background is not uploaded to Write Urdu. Roman Urdu suggestions are a separate feature and may use the transliteration provider described in the privacy policy.

Roman Urdu conversion

If you use Roman Urdu transliteration, review the resulting Urdu script before export. Transliteration is based on sound and can have more than one valid spelling.

Can I write Roman Urdu first?

Can I make Urdu poetry images on a phone?

Which image sizes are available?
